Aerating
Perhaps in your quest for the perfect lawn, you have heard of the term “aerating” and wondered if it would help your lawn. It is like giving your lawn a way to breathe by literally poking holes into it! The question is, does it work?
The short answer is yes. Aerating, when done correctly, is effective. In fact, it’s quite healthy for your lawn and can help it become more green and thick. By putting holes in the soil, you allow sunlight, nutrients, air, and water to go far beyond the ground’s surface. This not only creates richer soil but promotes healthy grass root growth. You’ll also notice water (from rain or watering) won’t pool as much, because the ground now acts like a sponge and absorbs the water. It is especially good to aerate if your lawn is dry and the dirt is compacted.
Since the aerating process is so effective, you shouldn’t need to aerate more than once a year.
